The 20th Pumping Technology Research Conference will be held this year at the Osaka Institute of Technology, Joto Umeda Campus, Joto Hall, continuing from last year. The forward mortar used when employing concrete pumps has seen the development of alternative forwarding materials in recent years, which are now being used on-site. However, there has been a lack of systematic evaluations regarding their properties and the amount of waste generated when using these forwarding materials. On the other hand, the "Forwarding Material Testing Method JIS Establishment Committee" has been established, and upon receiving a request for cooperation from this committee, we conducted pumping experiments in the 17th Field Experiment (2023) using various forwarding materials to qualitatively understand the appropriate usage methods for forwarding materials and the relationship between the properties of concrete and the amount that should be discarded. In this Pumping Technology Research Conference, we will report on this series of research findings.

The Kinki Ready-Mixed Concrete Pumping Cooperative, in collaboration with the Pumping Method Working Group of the Kinki Branch of the Architectural Institute of Japan, will conduct the 17th Field Experiment (2023) from October 31 to November 1. This year, continuing from last year, we will focus on alternative materials to delayed mortar, which may be required for use on-site from the perspective of SDGs, with the following objectives: 1) Examination of a system that allows pumping contractors, construction workers, and other personnel to easily handle alternative materials. 2) Reevaluation of experimental methods (standardization to JIS) and evaluation methods to understand the performance and applicability of alternative materials. 3) Investigation of the impact of differences in pumping conditions (boom posture and amount of alternative material input) on the amount of waste generated from alternative materials. 4) Consideration of measures to reduce the amount of concrete that includes waste alternative materials. 5) Understanding of points to be cautious about when using alternative materials in actual construction. 6) Examination of acceleration measurement using wireless IC tags with acceleration sensors. The results of this experiment are scheduled to be reported at the "20th Pumping Technology Research Meeting" planned for March 6 next year.

The Kansai Branch of the Japan Society of Civil Engineers and the Kansai Ready-Mixed Concrete Pumping Cooperative will jointly hold the "19th Pumping Technology Research Meeting" at the Umeda Campus of Osaka Institute of Technology. This time, as part of our efforts towards decarbonization in concrete pumping, we will primarily present research reports on the reduction of delayed mortar.
