Ionair Japan Co., Ltd. (ionair Group base: Switzerland, Japan office base: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Beda Weibel) has collaborated with the Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology (Fraunhofer IBP), the largest applied research institution in the field of science and technology in Europe, to verify the effectiveness of the air purification system (AQS: Air Quality System) manufactured and sold by ionair in suppressing airborne viruses. It has been demonstrated that by variably adjusting and dispersing the corona discharge-type oxygen cluster ions/bipolar ions generated by ionair products, a reduction effect of 99.5% can be achieved. This effect is shown to be effective against the "novel coronavirus" through verification using Phi6 bacteriophages*1.
