We have begun mass production of biodegradable plastics that can impart biodegradability to non-woven fabrics used for various applications, offering excellent cost performance. Biodegradable plastics are primarily used in agriculture and forestry, but the newly developed biodegradable non-woven fabric is suitable for a wider range of applications for the introduction of biodegradable plastics. The main raw material for the biodegradable plastic VS-90-2-A10 we developed is PBAT, based on a unique compound technology (patent 6763619) held by our group company VASU Networks, achieving stable high formation and reasonable costs. While biodegradable non-woven fabrics are already available in the market, many products primarily use PLA (polylactic acid) as the main raw material, which has posed a cost barrier to their introduction. VS-90-2-A10 was developed with the aim of lowering this barrier. In Japan, where biomass plastics hold a dominant market share, the VASU Group, which specializes in the development and manufacturing of biodegradable plastics, envisions expanding opportunities without limiting applications.

The patent obtained this time relates to the manufacturing technology of biomass plastics, enabling the creation of environmentally friendly biomass plastics that maintain the physical properties of petroleum-derived plastics as much as possible through our unique compound technology. Among these, biomass plastics are key materials for building a sustainable future. Their performance is particularly demonstrated in products that require excellent moldability, and since they contain renewable resources, the risk of depletion is low, allowing for a stable supply of raw materials.
