Our company will hold a seminar on the "Aim of the Integrated Efficiency and Infrastructure Strengthening Promotion Project for Water Supply and Sewerage." Starting from the fiscal year 2024, water supply administration will be transferred from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, allowing for centralized management of water supply and sewerage administration. The effects of this integration are significant. In response to the Noto Peninsula earthquake, the integrated recovery of water supply and sewerage has demonstrated these benefits. While Japan boasts a world-class standard in water supply administration, it faces challenges such as aging infrastructure and seismic resilience after over a century of water supply. The approach to water supply development in depopulated areas is also a concern. There are new challenges such as public-private partnerships, decarbonization, energy conservation and renewable energy, realization of a circular society, and the development of small-scale decentralized water treatment systems.
