Our company offers a special FRP coating method (R) that combines the strengths derived from GFRP material forms with the proven functionality of corrosion-resistant resins as a role of paint. By combining glass fibers and corrosion-resistant resins in an appropriate material composition, we achieve high corrosion resistance. Please feel free to contact us if you have any requests. 【Features】 ■ Sealing the "interface of fibers/resins near the surface" that is prone to acid penetration with a top coat ■ Suppression of acid penetration by glass fibers and improvement of the strength of the coating itself *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationThis document is a technical report that describes the evaluation of surface roughness and surface profiles of different samples made by hand lay-up, which have three surfaces: the release surface, hand-finished surface, and molded surface. In conclusion, the surface roughness values for Ra, Rz, and Pt improved by approximately 77 to 85% compared to the release surface. Upon examining the profile of the flat surface, it was found that the irregularities observed on the release surface were significantly reduced due to hand finishing, and the parallelism improved by 45%. 【Contents】 ■ Evaluation Preparation and Methods - Preparation of evaluation samples - Surface roughness measurement - Surface profile measurement ■ Results - Preparation of evaluation samples - Surface roughness measurement - Surface profile measurement ■ Discussion - Surface roughness due to hand finishing - Inclination of Surface sample C in the surface profile *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationThis document presents a technical report on three-dimensional shaped parts with uneven surfaces formed using conventional and new methods. It includes non-destructive testing through visual inspection and X-ray CT to verify the technical superiority of the new method, along with the results. The visual inspection results suggest that the parts produced by the conventional method exhibited burrs at the corners, indicating instability in the positioning of the reinforcing fibers compared to those produced by the new method. The new method's molded products were recognized as superior in terms of quality. Additionally, upon examining the X-ray CT images, it was found that the parts made using the conventional method showed an increase in resin-rich areas due to the movement of reinforcing fibers, as well as intermittent air layers (voids) at the boundary layer between the matrix resin and the reinforcing fibers. [Contents] ■ Evaluation Preparation and Methods - Preparation of evaluation samples - X-ray CT measurement ■ Results - Preparation of evaluation samples - X-ray CT measurement ■ Discussion - Key points of the new method's impact on improving internal quality of molded products *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationThis document describes our company's technology for drilling circular holes in FRP flat plates using a standard hole saw and a disk grinder (disk sander) that causes minimal damage to FRP. It includes quantitative evaluations of roundness and hole positioning accuracy using a CMM (coordinate measuring machine). As a result, both roundness and center position accuracy were superior with the hole saw; however, when processed with the hole saw, multiple instances of FRP delamination were confirmed on the machined surface. We believe we have demonstrated one of the quantitative indicators for setting machining tolerances. [Contents] ■ Evaluation preparation and methods - Preparation of evaluation samples - Roundness measurement ■ Results - Preparation of evaluation samples - Roundness measurement ■ Discussion - Causes of surface delamination resulting from hole processing with a hole saw - Accuracy of drilling processing, etc. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationThis document is a technical report that evaluates the characteristics of drill shapes after processing, using hole processing of FRP as an example. It quantifies the features of the processed drill shapes produced in-house and provides a quantitative comparison of these shapes with commercially available drills, as well as assesses the validity of the shapes through FRP processing. In the scope evaluated this time, although no superiority was recognized between the commercially available drills and the modified in-house drills for FRP processing, it was confirmed that the shape of the in-house processed drills contributes to extending the tool life. From the perspective of extending tool life, this resulted in findings of significant importance. 【Contents of the report (Evaluation preparation, methods, and results)】 ■ Preparation of evaluation drills ■ Shape inspection of evaluation drills ■ Production of flat plates for processing evaluation ■ Implementation of hole processing using various drills ■ X-ray CT measurement *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationThis document is a technical report that evaluates the durability of the gel coat layer, focusing on its thickness and drying time, as well as its adhesion resistance to FRP, in order to address issues such as delamination, wrinkles, and cracks that occur during the production of the gel coat layer. The evaluation revealed that a thickness of approximately 0.2mm provides high durability, with no clear correlation found with drying time. Additionally, internal verification using X-ray CT and tensile tests using DIC successfully identified the initial delamination of the gel coat layer. [Contents (Preparation and Evaluation Methods/Results)] ■ Gel Coat Preparation ■ Gel Coat Application ■ Gel Coat Drying ■ Production of FRP Flat Plates for Gel Coat Layer Evaluation ■ Measurement of Gel Coat Layer Thickness ■ Tensile Testing ■ Confirmation of Gel Coat Layer Delamination via X-ray CT ■ Correlation between Initial Delamination of the Gel Coat Layer and Gel Coat Layer Thickness and Drying Time *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationThis document describes the results of a quantitative evaluation of the surface condition after hand finishing of 3D-shaped FRP molded products, using surface roughness as an indicator. FRP, which is lightweight and also has corrosion resistance, is expected to have an expanding range of applications as an alternative to metal materials. On the other hand, when the design is fundamentally based on replacing metal, it is often required to have equivalent aesthetics, making surface finishing of the exposed areas in hand lay-up molding an unavoidable necessity. This document clarifies that it is possible to achieve a smooth surface on the exposed areas of FRP molded products with 3D shapes through hand finishing. [Contents] ■ Evaluation Preparation and Evaluation Method - Preparation of evaluation samples - Measurement of surface roughness ■ Results - Preparation of evaluation samples - Measurement of surface roughness ■ Discussion - Comparison of surface roughness after hand finishing with the exposed areas of dimensional shapes - Reasons for the increased surface roughness measurement values of Cartridge A (X-R) - Impact of the inclination correction method on measurement results, etc. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.
