Free membership registrationWe received a consultation from a customer using a gland packing as a sealing material to stop leaks from a rotary valve, reporting that leaks were occurring. Gland packing requires regular tightening, but since they were using a simple type that could not be tightened, we switched to a rotary valve that allows for tightening. By tightening the gland packing, we can provide an immediate solution to the leak. In resolving this issue, we were able to achieve multiple benefits, and the customer was very pleased. In response, we proposed the addition of a "bearing mechanism" to structurally enhance durability. Since the addition of the bearing mechanism, there has been no shaft wobble even during continuous operation, and the previously concerning abnormal noise has also disappeared.
