Lightning protection case study: Fireworks festival - To safely welcome and send off 700,000 people.

Avoid with the new system! Instead of protecting the entire park, establish lightning protection areas at key points.

We would like to introduce a case where the "PDCE Lightning Protection Ball" was implemented in the lightning protection system for a fireworks festival. During the previous festival, the weather changed suddenly four hours before the launch, resulting in a thunderstorm. Experts analyzed the latest weather data and confirmed that there was no risk of lightning at the launch time, allowing the event to proceed. However, this year, we prepared for the worst-case scenario with a new lightning protection system. Our product, equipped with features that prevent lightning strikes, has already protected 4,100 installations across the country, including the Self-Defense Forces, railways, factories, and outdoor sports facilities. 【Features】 - No power supply required as it utilizes charges induced in the ground - No maintenance costs, such as for replenishing salts - Durable stainless steel construction - Reliable Japanese-made product with a 10-year warranty *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

Lightning protection case study: Hydropower - Install lightning rods on all transmission lines in high-altitude mountainous areas.

A case where a PDCE lightning ball equipped with a function to prevent lightning strikes was installed, successfully getting through the winter of 2024 without any accidents!

We would like to introduce a case where "PDCE" units were installed on transmission towers for the Electric Power Department of Kamioka Mining Co., Ltd., which operates a hydropower plant. In August 2019, a transmission line in the mountains was struck directly by lightning. A lightning surge flowed into the substation, causing damage to some of the equipment. In the winter of 2023, lightning struck again on a transmission line in the high mountains, resulting in significant operational challenges such as securing personnel for recovery and arranging alternative measures due to the damage caused by the lightning strike. After hearing about the achievements of other operators who have implemented PDCE on transmission towers, the company decided to adopt it as soon as possible and installed it on all 25 transmission towers, each 40 to 50 meters tall. The PDCE lightning protection ball, equipped with features that prevent lightning strikes, has already protected 4,100 units nationwide, including those for the Self-Defense Forces, railways, factories, and outdoor sports facilities. 【Case Summary】 ■ Challenges - Lightning struck the transmission line, requiring three weeks to resume operations. - The operations required for recovery after being hit by lightning again were substantial. ■ Results - Installed on 25 transmission towers, each 40 to 50 meters tall, enabling us to get through the winter of 2024 without any accidents. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

Lightning protection case study: Using subsidies to protect national treasures at the mountain summit from lightning.

From 4 lightning rods to 1 PDCE! Introducing a case where subsidies were utilized for implementation.

We would like to introduce a case where the Musashi Mitake Shrine, located at the summit of Mount Mitake, utilized subsidies to implement the "PDCE Lightning Ball." Due to the frequent thunderstorms in the area, lightning strikes on trees and equipment damage from induced lightning occur almost every year. Furthermore, in the fall of 2022, a significant lightning strike completely disabled the security and disaster prevention functions. Since the items we want to protect, including the treasure hall, are designed to fit within the protective area of the PDCE, we decided to replace the four lightning rods with one PDCE. We utilized subsidies from Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Ome City for the replacement of damaged equipment and the introduction of new facilities. The PDCE Lightning Ball, equipped with features that prevent lightning strikes, has already protected 4,100 installations nationwide, including those in the Self-Defense Forces, railways, factories, and outdoor sports facilities. [Case Summary] ■ Challenges - Frequent thunderstorms from summer to autumn - A significant lightning strike completely disabled security and disaster prevention functions ■ Results - Replaced four lightning rods with one PDCE - Equipment failures due to induced lightning still occur, but they are now manageable with repairs *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

We would like to introduce a case study of the "PDCE Lightning Protection Ball," which is equipped with features that prevent lightning strikes, implemented at Sagamiko Resort Co., Ltd. When introducing new activities, various troubles are anticipated, and lightning protection is one of them. Discussions arose about what to do if a lightning warning is issued, whether the traditional lightning rods that attract lightning are sufficient, and which lightning rod to install. After proposing the mechanism of this product, which makes it difficult for lightning to approach, and suggesting that the activity itself be located in a lightning protection area, it was determined to be more effective than traditional lightning rods, leading to its implementation. 【Product Features】 ■ No power supply required as it uses charges induced in the ground ■ No maintenance costs such as replenishing salts ■ Made of durable stainless steel ■ Reliable Japanese product with a 10-year warranty *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

Examples of lightning strike countermeasures: Ground. We will not tolerate lightning accidents in youth development venues.

A training base for the Academy athletes that was a long-held wish, implemented lightning strike countermeasures as a substitute for lightning rods.

We would like to introduce a case of installing the PDCE lightning protection ball to the general incorporated association MFA-B&S. When establishing a new ground for player development, we felt that lightning protection was essential. Just then, a lightning strike caused damage at a high school ground in Miyazaki City. We thought it was imperative to implement a countermeasure to replace traditional lightning rods, so we contacted a retailer and received a proposal to install the PDCE, which operates on the opposite principle of attracting lightning. We have installed two "PDCE-2020 Legacy Models" on the LED lighting poles for night games, aligned with the centerline extension. The PDCE lightning protection ball, equipped with features that do not invite lightning strikes, has already protected 4,300 installations across the country, including the Self-Defense Forces, railways, factories, and outdoor sports facilities. [Reasons for Implementation] - We felt the danger of lightning rods. - Lightning strike incidents in Miyazaki. - Information provided by J-League officials. - It is the responsibility of adults to prepare for lightning strike incidents. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

Lightning strike countermeasure case: Railway business. Installed after a billion yen in damages, no lightning strikes in 10 years.

A lightning strike on the Tamagawa River Bridge caused a major transportation disruption. PDCEs are being continuously installed in areas with frequent lightning strikes.

To the railway company, we would like to introduce a case study of lightning protection measures that were implemented after incurring hundreds of millions in damages, with no lightning strikes occurring over a span of ten years. In the summer of 2013, frequent power outages were occurring due to lightning strikes affecting the protective devices at substations. Shortly thereafter, a lightning strike occurred near a train traveling between Izumi-Tamagawa and Noborito, resulting in damage to some of the equipment necessary for operating the train. As a measure to prevent recurrence, the only solution was the PDCE, and 26 Junior-Marine units were installed at the damaged Tamagawa Bridge and elevated bridge sections. Subsequently, 32 units were installed between Seijo-Gakuenmae Station and Kitami, 58 units between Gotokuji Station and Kyodo Station, and 97 units between Kyodo Station, Chitose-Funabashi Station, and Soshigaya-Okurayama Station, focusing on the elevated bridge sections. [Case Overview (Excerpt)] - On August 12, 2013, a lightning strike occurred near a train traveling on the Tamagawa Bridge. - While searching for lightning protection measures to replace the overhead ground wire. - 26 Junior-Marine units were installed in the section between Izumi-Tamagawa Station and Noborito Station. - A lightning strike near Katase-Enoshima Station resulted in damages amounting to hundreds of millions. - Even railway companies that prioritize proven results are being recommended "new lightning rods." *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

We would like to introduce a case where a "dream home" was completely destroyed by lightning during a torrential downpour, and a new house was rebuilt over a year and a half, incorporating the "PDCE lightning rod." After the incident, the customer researched lightning protection measures on their own, but felt uncomfortable with the information found online, which mainly discussed methods of attracting lightning to the rod and grounding it. Continuing their research, they discovered our lightning suppression product and proceeded with the installation. They have shared, "It has been six years since the lightning strike, and we are living with peace of mind." [Case Overview] ■ Home completely destroyed by lightning, rebuilt over a year and a half ■ Felt uncomfortable with the idea of "attracting lightning to the rod and grounding it" ■ Installed PDCE-baby in the rebuilt home *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

Examples of Lightning Protection Measures: Broadcasting Station - Lightning Prevention for the Main Transmission Station and Relay Stations on the Mountain Summit.

We will introduce cases where lightning accidents occurring within facilities have decreased!

We would like to share feedback received from a local broadcasting station in Toyama that has been using multiple PDCE units over several years. At this station, the main transmission site and relay stations are installed on mountain peaks, where the probability of direct lightning strikes is high. When a strike occurs, failures in the power supply and broadcasting equipment frequently happen, and if damage occurs, it can take several hours of hiking through snowy mountains to reach the site, which has been a source of concern. "We have received feedback that since we replaced four relay stations along the coast, which had a high incidence of damage, with PDCE lightning rods four years ago, we have not experienced any lightning damage," they reported. [Case Overview] ■ Challenge: The high probability of direct lightning strikes frequently caused failures in the power supply and broadcasting equipment, and if damage occurred, it could take several hours of hiking through snowy mountains to reach the site. ■ Effect: There has been no lightning damage for four years. ■ Survey Area - Survey Location: Toyama Prefecture [Latitude 36°49'27"/Longitude 137°12'42"] - Survey Range: 60km x 60km centered around the above location. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

Lightning Protection Ball: ALB Anti Lightning Ball

Completely shut out "welcome discharge" with a double-structured three-dimensional capacitor!

The "ALB Anti Lightning Ball" is a PDCE lightning protection ball equipped with a function that does not invite lightning strikes. It is patented in Japan and the United States (Japan: Patent No. 6128539, USA: US 10,992,111 B2). Aiming for improved performance compared to the conventional method of opposing upper and lower electrodes, the internal electrode, which is grounded, is covered by the outer electrode to reduce the exposure of the internal electrode. This design minimizes the exposure of the internal electrode at any angle. In discharge tests conducted at Pau University, it demonstrated the ability not to discharge even when the maximum voltage was applied. Since this is an indoor test, it is unclear how much difference there is in the protective area outdoors, but it is certain that it outperforms conventional PDCEs in discharge performance. The material used is SUS304. Please feel free to contact us when you need assistance. 【Features】 ■ Does not require a power source as it utilizes charges induced from the ground ■ Maintenance does not incur costs or effort for replenishing salts ■ Made of durable stainless steel (SUS304) ■ Trusted Japanese manufacturing (10-year product warranty) *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.
