Our ultra-lightweight, new seismic-resistant ceiling system uses lightweight, soft, sound-absorbing, insulating, and aesthetically pleasing decorative glass wool ceiling panels. The ceiling is constructed with aluminum extrusions that are flexible, lightweight, highly dimensionally accurate, and excellent in processability, serving as the main structural base. The ultra-lightweight SLC method is a ceiling construction method that falls under direct-attachment ceilings, excluding specific ceilings, with a weight of 2 kg/m² or less. The "SLC method" is a system ceiling that uses lightweight, soft, sound-absorbing, and excellent thermal insulation glass wool decorative panels, significantly reducing the number of components to achieve an ultra-lightweight of less than 2.0 kg/m². Since the ceiling panels are fixed with adhesive all around, they are less likely to break or fall off during vibrations. In seismic experiments conducted on a shaking table at Kyoto University’s Disaster Prevention Research Institute, even after applying seismic waves measured at a magnitude of 6 or higher from major earthquakes across various regions (Note 1) continuously for 102 times, there was no damage or detachment! For buildings where the design of the ceiling frame is a concern, such as theaters and halls, we recommend the "SLC-FH method," which makes the frame invisible. By fitting guide panels into a newly shaped main bar, we have established a structure where the frame is not visible after assembly. The "Super Lightweight Ceiling SLC Method" is a ceiling construction method that achieves a weight of 2.0 kg/m² or less for ceiling surface components. The ceiling panels use lightweight and soft glass wool decorative boards that excel in sound absorption and thermal insulation. The main T-bars are notched at the top and the cross T-bars at the bottom, intersecting to form a grid of 1000mm x 1500mm, which significantly reduces the number of components by securing them with SP clips. This makes it possible to achieve a weight of 2.0 kg/m² or less. Since the main and cross T-bars are constructed in long lengths, they are less likely to warp during an earthquake. The ceiling panels use lightweight and soft glass wool decorative boards that excel in sound absorption and thermal insulation. The main T-bars are notched at the top and the cross T-bars at the bottom, intersecting to form a grid of 1000mm x 1500mm, and by fixing them with SP clips, the number of components is significantly reduced, making it possible to achieve a weight of 2.0 kg/m² or less. Since the main and cross T-bars are constructed in their full length, they are less likely to warp during an earthquake.
