033【Our Technical Capabilities】2025/07/17 This time, we would like to introduce our original chucking fixture, which was conceptualized, designed, and manufactured in-house to improve processing efficiency and workability when we undertook the mass production machining of bronze cast products. This fixture is characterized by its structure that allows simultaneous processing of two workpieces using a two-axis parallel drill, emphasizing machining efficiency. Therefore, even if there is a thickness variation of up to 1.5mm between the two workpieces (the white and blue plates in the photo), it is designed to ensure that they are chucked evenly and securely with four claws. Additionally, a single tightening lever can open and close all four claws simultaneously, making the workpiece loading and unloading process very efficient. Technical Capabilities of Nitto Kogyo Co., Ltd. ~Successful Development Case of an Ultra-Miniature Wankel Rotary Engine (0.137cc)~ In 2000, we received a request from a certain university in the United States to design and manufacture an ultra-miniature Wankel rotary engine (RE). The key to the success of this project was the realization of an ultra-miniature RE that could operate 100% independently. The university had been developing several ultra-small REs independently, but when the starter output was reduced to below 50%, the operation would stop, making development difficult. Consequently, the university reached out to us, focusing on our NR-20 series. After receiving a detailed explanation of the project, we utilized our unique technology to start the design and development from scratch. As a result, we completed an ultra-miniature RE with a displacement of 0.137cc, which was smaller than the university's prototype. After delivery, it was reported that the operation test using hydrogen fuel at the university successfully achieved 100% independent operation. In this machining process, there was a challenge due to the deep fin grooves, which made the fins prone to damage during processing. ~Successful Case of Denture Polishing Machine Development~ I will talk about the development of a denture polishing machine. The client's request was to polish more than 15 dentures at once, significantly reducing the polishing time compared to conventional machines. However, the client did not have the know-how or dedicated department for developing specialized machines, so all development was entrusted to our company. Leveraging our long-standing expertise in designing and manufacturing jigs and specialized machines, as well as our machining track record, we devised a unique concept for a specialized machine. First, we designed and manufactured a test machine to check the polishing quality using several dentures. After that, we designed and manufactured the completed machine, as shown in the photo, and delivered it to the client. However, the client lacked the know-how for equipment development, so our company took the lead in advancing the project. The project progressed through repeated meetings with the client, and we devised and designed a bubble jet nozzle rotation mechanism that does not use electrical components for safety reasons. ~Success Case of Prototype Folding Bicycle Processing~ The client conceived, designed, and drafted the plans, and our company was responsible for the machining based on those drawings. The material used was a special aluminum alloy provided by the client that is not commonly available in the market. We processed parts for one complete bicycle, including the "folding main frame, wheels, fork, etc." Due to cost considerations, we processed only the requested parts without any spares. Initially, we were concerned about potential machining errors due to the high number of processes and the complexity of the shapes. Any machining errors would require rework, such as welding, which could lead to color changes in the reworked areas after surface treatment, resulting in defects and necessitating a remake. However, we successfully completed and delivered all parts without a single machining error. The final product achieved a balance of durability and aesthetics. This project proceeded smoothly through all stages and received high praise from the client. The ability to deliver without any remakes demonstrates our high level of technical skill. This device first sorts two types of parts (A and B) that are randomly discharged from the parts supply machine into two categories, and then aligns the direction of the A and B parts to a consistent orientation. After sorting, the parts are returned to the parts supply machine, and the process is repeated endlessly. (As this is an exhibit, no machining of the sorted parts is performed.)
