- Measures to enhance the log capture function installed on an impermeable type sediment control dam - Protech Engineering Co., Ltd. Catcher" aimed at reducing log damage caused by the increasing heavy rain disasters in recent years, and has begun sales. The RB Catcher is directly installed in the upstream section of an impermeable type sediment control dam to improve log capture functionality. It can be flexibly adapted without large-scale construction, regardless of whether it is newly installed or existing. In wide river sections, when using the conventional straight arrangement, capturing logs can cause the openings to become clogged. This results in water flow concentrating in the side sections, reducing the water passage capacity, which can lead to damming and the risk of logs overflowing downstream. In the case of this product, the arrangement structure creates gaps between units, allowing for a water passage that prevents blockage by logs. It effectively suppresses damming and ensures that subsequent logs are captured without overflowing. Through the provision of this product, we will contribute to strengthening disaster prevention and mitigation measures. Furthermore, we will continue to focus on product development based on the concept of "basin flood control."

We have released a video introducing a construction case of "Urban Guard," a pile foundation (pier foundation) debris flow and driftwood countermeasure for non-flowing streams. This case was implemented as an emergency measure to prevent damage to residences near the valley outlet in Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture, which suffered from landslide disasters due to the heavy rain in the Oku-Noto region in 2024, and to prepare for the construction of a permanent sediment control dam. Urban Guard is optimal for debris flow and driftwood countermeasures in non-flowing streams, featuring a pile foundation structure with functions equivalent to those of a permeable sediment control dam. Unlike the conventional straight arrangement, it features a structural layout that creates gaps between units, ensuring that water flow is maintained without causing blockages after capturing logs. This allows for the reliable capture of subsequent logs without overflow, preventing damage downstream. By adding this new log capture device to our lineup, we will flexibly respond to various needs in the field.
