The Bactester developed by NPC is a compact device that performs rapid measurement of the total bacterial count, which is a fundamental indicator of hygiene management. Its measurement principle is based on the "Rapid Method for Measuring Bacterial Count by Fluorescent Staining" as specified in the Japanese Pharmacopoeia, utilizing a patented technology that images and directly measures bacteria excited by a cell staining reagent. It can be used not only for food but also for checking the hygiene status in environmental aspects, such as "water," where culture testing is difficult, airborne bacteria, and swab tests.
