No adhesive is needed, and the rubber adheres completely to rubber (self-fusing). Since it does not stick to anything other than the tape, there is no sticky residue left at all. Being silicone, it has excellent weather resistance, durability, ozone resistance (UV), and waterproofing, making it semi-permanent. No re-maintenance is required, and there are no cracks or fraying.
