A group of craftsmen specializing in thatched roof construction, active throughout Japan with a focus on Kyoto.

Yamashiro Kusaori Co., Ltd. is a company primarily engaged in thatching roof construction and the collection and sale of reeds (yoshi). We are committed to preserving the culture of thatching and have been involved in various roofs, including cultural properties such as private homes, shrines, and tea rooms. We aim to rediscover the public utility and role of thatching and reed fields (yoshi marshes) and hope to be recognized for the necessity of thatching in the future. Although our efforts may be modest, we are dedicated to maintaining thatched roofs, passing on techniques, fostering development, and conserving reed fields.
