The microcapsule method was developed to maintain and preserve concrete structures.

In the late 1970s to the 1980s, the automatic low-pressure injection method had not yet become widespread in Japan. Since the completion of the first microcapsule in 1982, microcapsules have contributed to the maintenance and preservation of concrete structures.
