As condensed in the "Measures for the Revitalization and Development of the Construction Industry 2011," "public works that protect lives" have become a focal point as part of emergency economic measures, with many urgent themes piling up, including measures for aging infrastructure, disaster recovery and prevention, safety measures for the elderly and children, and the creation of a cycling environment. Moreover, the Olympics, as a festival of sports, is not only an opportunity to create an environment where athletes and their associates can perform under the best conditions, based on the principles of friendship, solidarity, and fair play, but also an excellent chance to showcase Japanese culture as a tourism-oriented nation.
