Authentic tatami, with a history of over 1000 years, is made from a combination of rice straw tatami base and igusa (rush grass). The raw material for the tatami base, rice straw, purifies the indoor air environment through its natural breathing properties. Additionally, since it is harvested annually from rice paddies, it has no environmental impact whatsoever. It is also easy to reuse.
