Free membership registrationThe siding material "Obi Cedar OB3P/OB3P-B" is an exterior wall material with a thickness of 18mm that enhances corrosion resistance by adopting "PAD drying," which slowly dries the wood over a long period, preventing the release of weather-resistant components of Obi cedar. The joint area is designed to be easy to handle and strong against the expansion and contraction of wood. It features a rough finish that allows for quick moisture release absorbed from rain. OB3P is a design variation of OB6P. By creating a decorative groove of the same size as the joint in the center with a working width of 123mm, it gives the appearance of being half the width while maintaining the same construction effort. The specifications, including thickness and joint shape, are unified with OB6P, allowing for mixed designs of both. 【Specifications (partial)】 Working width: 123mm Thickness: 18mm Length: 3,900mm Processing: Rough surface finish, tongue and groove processing Packaging: 6 pieces/bundle *For more details, please refer to the materials. Feel free to contact us with any inquiries.

Free membership registrationIn Miyazaki Prefecture, there are various sawmills and processing plants of different sizes, but the company that partners with Uemura Sangyo to handle product development and manufacturing is one of the largest in scale. The manufacturing bases have three locations within the prefecture, all equipped with log yards, sawing facilities, drying equipment, and automation from processing to shipping. Among them, the factory shown in the image is equipped with advanced facilities and can manage 4,000 cubic meters of logs, using Obisugi trees aged 15 to 45 years according to their intended use. In the image, the facility visible in the background is the equipment for receiving and inspecting logs. Here, logs brought in from producers are scanned, and only those recognized as top-quality are used as materials. The rest are exported overseas. *For more detailed information, you can view it through the related links. Please feel free to contact us for more details.

Free membership registrationMiyazaki, including the Obi cedar area, is a prefecture that boasts the highest production of cedar in Japan. To address the challenges arising from this abundant forestry resource reaching or surpassing its harvest period and increasing in diameter, the Wood Utilization Technology Research Center, commonly known as the "Wood Technology Center," was established in April 2001. On a vast site of 3.2 hectares, six buildings with different construction methods are arranged, each used for research and experimentation. They actively utilize locally produced cedar in their structures, exterior walls, sashes, floors, and fittings, serving as a model for long-term observation in practical use. Additionally, the yard within the site functions as an exposure testing ground, allowing for the verification of the weather resistance of wood and coatings under various conditions. *For more detailed information, please refer to the related links. Free membership registrationIn the southeastern part of Kyushu, in Nishi-Nippon City, Miyazaki Prefecture, there is an area known as the "Obi Forestry Region." This area corresponds to the former Obi Domain from the Edo period, and the name "Obi cedar" is derived from that domain name. "Obi cedar" is not the name of a single tree species, but rather a collective term for 18 varieties of cedar that grow in this area. The climate of Miyazaki Prefecture, which has a long coastline along the Pacific Ocean, is strongly influenced by the Kuroshio Current flowing from the equator, resulting in high temperatures throughout the year and heavy rainfall in the summer. Even among cedars, those that grow in warmer areas tend to grow faster, and their wood becomes lighter and softer. The flexibility of Obi cedar, which allows it to absorb shocks, and its particularly excellent thermal performance and workability are due to this phenomenon. *For more detailed information, please refer to the related links. Free membership registrationThe redwood, known as Sequoiadendron giganteum, which grows wild in California, is a rare wood that, despite being a conifer, possesses one of the highest levels of resistance to decay among timber. In the wild forests, it can exceed heights of 100 meters, and due to its unique ecology, it is a species that has succeeded in survival competition. However, its population has drastically decreased due to rampant logging during the Gold Rush era. Currently, a small, stable, and long-term industrial use has been realized from individuals that are strictly managed in plantations. Redwood has been cherished by various architects, including Charles Moore, and has woven its history. This exterior wall material, processed with a rough surface in California, is resilient to Japan's climate changes due to its increased adaptability to shrinkage, and it also has good paint adhesion. Thanks to its characteristic of growing straight and large, it has been commercialized in standard sizes. While there are variations in color, the lumber produced is close to being knot-free.
