Case study of slope protection works for alkaline soil: "Litmus Mat Blue"

Slope protection works specialized for alkaline soil, such as embankments and tunnel spoil using cement-based solidifying materials (for ponds, retention basins, road improvements, and riverbank protection).

The "Litmus Mat Blue" has the following features compared to general vegetation mats: - Addition of a dedicated neutralizing agent → Improves the soil to create an environment conducive to plant growth. - Plant growth promoter → Contains a special fertilizer that allows the plants themselves to adapt to alkaline conditions. Soil improvement bags filled with this neutralizing agent and plant growth promoter are placed at 20 cm intervals along with fertilizers and soil conditioners. It is possible to green alkaline soil with a pH of around 9.0 (there are also cases for conditions beyond this. Please feel free to consult us).

A soil sheet that hardens with water and can be easily handled by anyone, like a weed control sheet.

Lightweight enough to be held with one hand (10kg/5m²), and no special vehicles or tools are needed! Just hammer in the dedicated nails! Anyone can do it.

"Hardened Tekimen" is a multipurpose civil engineering sheet that hardens in its shape upon reacting with water. The water-hardening resin impregnated in the fiberglass cloth inside the sheet reacts with moisture from rain and air to harden, forming an FRP (fiber-reinforced plastic) structure. [Construction Case] Easily tackle muddy water issues in green parks! Solve long-standing problems!

Finally usable in the field where we have struggled with muddy water for many years! The removal of white soil bags has been omitted, making it easy to complete the measures! The landscape of the green park has also improved!

Before arriving at "hardened pavement," measures were taken by creating water channels using materials like white soil. If new modifications are to be made due to the impact on aesthetics, removal becomes a challenge. Therefore, by directly applying "hardened pavement" over the existing water channels, we have implemented measures easily without generating industrial waste. Given that it is easily visible in the green park, we used palm fiber nets (Gengoro nets) that excel in aesthetics for slope protection. We also offer a wide range of products that prioritize aesthetics, such as palm fiber nets. 【Case Overview】 ■ Project Name: Ikuta Green Park Facility Repair Work ■ Location: Kanagawa Prefecture ■ Construction Date: May 2022 ■ Quantity: 120m² Nihon Shokusei is committed to closely supporting each site, whether it involves rockfall measures from slope frames, vegetation mats/sheets, riverbank protection, parks/green spaces, or nature conservation (participation in the 30by30 Alliance). If you have any issues or requests you would like to address, please feel free to contact us. We offer free on-site surveys and proposal creation. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

[Construction Example] Repair of Stone Walls (Oya Stone) for Small Areas Under 100m2

Repair of the stone wall in public land (changed from mortar spraying) noise control, small area, no need for machinery installation or material storage, lightweight and easy to construct, weed control (mowing).

The stone wall made of Ōtani stone has been repaired. Due to the long extension and the small area of less than 100m² for the work, we adopted a hardening textile membrane instead of the initially planned mortar spraying method. Concrete nails were used to secure the sheet. 【Case Overview】 ■ Project Name: Residential Stone Wall Repair Work ■ Location: Tochigi Prefecture ■ Construction Date: August 2023 ■ Quantity: 100m² Nihon Seishokubai is committed to supporting each site, whether it involves rockfall measures from embankments, vegetation mats/sheets, riverbank protection, parks/green spaces, or nature conservation (participation in the 30by30 Alliance). Reuse of excavated soil! Prevent UV degradation through greening even if the removal opportunity is missed!

Local excavated soil can be used at 2 tons per bag! We solve the problems of landslides. We have numerous construction achievements across the country, from road disaster recovery to agricultural roads and maintenance repairs.

Mesh fabric is used on the sides and top! A new large sandbag equipped with seeds and fertilizer. Since it can use 2 tons of locally generated soil per bag, it reduces the worries of dealing with collapsed soil. It can also be created on-site. Large sandbags can experience a decrease in functionality and aesthetics if left unattended after disaster recovery, leading to the outflow of the inner soil. "Mega Medel" prevents the outflow of inner soil and does not compromise aesthetics by greening with plants. Creation is easy with an excavator (mechanical construction). Compared to conventional vegetative sandbags, it allows for overwhelming labor savings and a reduction in construction time. Mega Medel, which has been pre-made at a different location, can be installed using heavy machinery when needed, or it can be set up with a crane. By filling it with soil and installing it, greening can be easily achieved, making it a disaster prevention greening product that combines disaster countermeasures and landscape preservation functions. There is a wealth of construction experience in disaster recovery for roads, forest roads, agricultural roads, mountain conservation, sediment control dams, maintenance and repairs, embankments, ponds, and land development. 【Features】 ■ Can green with plants without causing soil outflow ■ Can be easily created with an excavator ■ Mechanical construction is possible ■ Allows for overwhelming labor savings and reduction in construction time
