Accessory Screening Survey (Corrosion Doctor)
Screening investigation and corrosion site identification using non-destructive testing technology.
Steel columns such as signposts and lighting poles along the road are most susceptible to corrosion at the boundary with the road surface (ground level), and as damage progresses, there is a risk of collapse. In the accessory screening survey, an ultrasonic diagnostic device called "Corrosion Doctor" is used to diagnose the corrosion condition at the ground level (around GL−40mm) on-site without excavating the road surface. Compared to conventional inspection methods (close visual inspection, trial excavation, residual plate thickness measurement, and restoration), this method not only reduces inspection costs but also eliminates the need for road traffic restrictions, significantly improving work efficiency and safety. Results can be immediately classified into three categories: "sound," "almost sound," and "corrosion present," making it ideal for narrowing down columns that require detailed investigation. Furthermore, this device is registered with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's NETIS (KT-150121-VE) and has been selected as a technology for promotion and utilization.
