"Macro Net" is a covering net method that addresses everything from rockfall prevention to rockfall protection through a combination of wire mesh, wire rope, and anchors. There are two types based on the combination of components: covering rockfall protection net and specific boulder fixation. Both types use double-twisted wire hexagonal mesh (DT net) as the main component, which excels in tear resistance. ■Overview The robust protective net is a high-energy absorption pocket-type rockfall protection net designed to efficiently absorb the energy of falling rocks that occur at the top of slopes and safely guide them to the bottom of the slope. It is made from a combination of high-strength wire mesh, wire ropes, and cushioning devices. It has been developed based on the performance verification methods described in the Rockfall Countermeasure Handbook (December 2017) and has been proven to meet the three performance requirements (safety, usability, and reparability). ■Features 1. The cushioning device is delivered after factory assembly, reducing the installation process and time during construction. 2. Full-scale performance verification experiments have demonstrated that after partial repairs are made to a specimen that has been loaded once, reloading shows that performance is restored to 100%. 3. The "NPF Net Fence" is a high-energy absorption type rockfall protection net (pocket type) equipped with a rockfall energy absorption device. During a rockfall impact, it has the function of protecting ropes and anchors from shock due to its cushioning capability. Additionally, the support rope (commonly referred to as the vertical rope) that is attached to the posts is fixed with anchors, which enhances the stability of the wire mesh section (in this method, the fence) and reduces snow accumulation on the wire mesh.
