The reason why a temperature power sensor can be used as a temperature controller.

The temperature power sensor is a compact/sealed structure.

The reason why a temperature power sensor can be used as a temperature controller is that a flat bimetallic strip returns to its original position even after experiencing over 10 million temperature cycles. Therefore, by entrusting the jumping action to a specialized jumping spring (beryllium copper) and doubling the sensitivity by using two bimetals stacked vertically, it is possible to create a small DIFF./long-life thermostat. The temperature power sensor is a compact and sealed structure that incorporates this design. In contrast, a disc-type thermostat has no issues with its structure as a protector, but it cannot be used as a controller. For more details, please download the catalog.

What is a Temperature Power Sensor (TPS)?

It is a world-hit product, the bimetallic control thermostat (TPS).

The Temperature Power Sensor (TPS) is the product name for Matsuo's bimetallic control thermostat. Please refer to it as TPS. It is a globally successful product created by Matsuo. Traditionally, bimetal thermostats were mostly disk-type protectors, and there were very few that could be used as controllers. Matsuo began challenging this difficult field (bimetallic control thermostats) in 1975 and started full-scale sales in 1980. For more details, please download the catalog.

Principle of Temperature Power Sensor

This is a control-type thermostat developed with the goal of being small and low-priced.

The principle of the temperature power sensor is the "control-type thermostat," developed with the goal of providing a high-performance bimetal thermostat that can be used as a controller in a compact and low-cost form. It combines a sharp jumping spring with a semi-permanent lifespan and a flat bimetal that does not experience material distortion, using two pieces of bimetal to increase sensitivity. The sharp jumping spring made of beryllium copper, which guarantees the high performance of the small DIFF. thermostat, operates with an extremely small hysteresis (approximately 0.05 m/m), which corresponds to about 3 degrees when converted to temperature. It can withstand over 2 million cycles of repeated operation. For more details, please download the catalog.

About lifespan by load

The mechanical lifespan of the temperature power sensor is constrained when used under heavy load.

This is an explanation about lifespan under different loads. The mechanical lifespan of the temperature power sensor exceeds 2 million cycles, but when used under heavy load, the lifespan is limited due to contact wear. The lifespan indication is based on 100,000 cycles at rated load, so if used below the rated load, the lifespan will be even longer. For more details, please download the catalog.

Thermal time constant of the temperature power sensor

In air and water, water is more effective at extracting heat from objects, so the thermal time constant is smaller.

In the thermal time constant of temperature power sensors, those with good thermal conductivity become familiar more easily, while those with poor thermal conductivity take longer to become familiar. The degree of familiarity is represented by the thermal time constant. We measured the thermal time constants of the MQT8 series of temperature power sensors. The thermal time constant is expressed as the time it takes to reach 60% of the temperature change range; as shown in the difference table, regardless of whether the temperature change range is large or small, if the object and measurement conditions are the same, the same value is indicated. The thermal time constants measured in air with a wind speed of 1 to 1.5 m are 102 seconds for MQT8, 160 seconds for M2, and 195 seconds for M3. In water, heat is more easily drawn away from the object than in air, so the thermal time constant measured in water is smaller. For more details, please download the catalog.

Regional share of temperature power sensors (TPS)

Advanced products like TPS are first adopted in regions with a significant technological accumulation.

I will explain the regional share of Temperature Power Sensors (TPS). It has been over 20 years since Temperature Power Sensors were introduced to the market. During this time, they have gradually penetrated the world with catchphrases such as "high-performance thermos that can replace electronic thermos at a fraction of the price." It is natural for advanced products like TPS to be adopted first in regions with significant technological accumulation. In developing regions, the manufacturing stage involves receiving blueprints from advanced regions, so it will take time before they reach the level of creating unique products using TPS.
