With the mercury intrusion method, as the curing time increases, the pore diameter decreases, and the pore volume also decreases.

This document introduces the analysis of the pore structure of cement hydration products. It is known that the pore structure of cement hydration products and the moisture contained within the pores significantly affect the strength and durability of concrete. Here, we evaluated the pore volume and pore size distribution based on differences in the curing time of cement using the mercury intrusion method, and additionally assessed the true density and porosity using the gas replacement method. Introducing the mercury porosimeter "BELPORE." It features vertical mercury filling and automates the pressurization from degassing of the sample up to 400 kPa with the "BELPORE LP," as well as the "BELPORE HP" with a maximum pressure of 414 MPa, and the "BELPORE MP" with a maximum pressure of 228 MPa.
