This time, I will introduce the reasons for using various thicknesses of sheet metal to create lockers and the purpose of standardizing the plate thickness for making a single locker.
At Jinzhang Works, we primarily use a sheet metal thickness of 0.8 mm when making lockers for valuables. However, we differentiate the thickness based on the product: 1.0 mm for map cases and 1.6 mm for sports lockers. While using thicker sheets can increase strength, using excessively thick sheets can make the product heavier and less user-friendly. Additionally, the price of materials varies with thickness, which can lead to higher product costs.
Therefore, at Jinzhang Works, when we receive an order from a customer, we inquire about the size and weight of the items to be stored, as well as the usage conditions, such as whether a person will be sitting on it. This allows us to select the appropriate sheet thickness to create a "durable" locker tailored to the intended use.
In the past, we have used various sheet metals for a single locker, including 0.6 mm for reinforcements, 0.7 mm for inner boxes, and 3.2 mm for cams, in addition to the standard 0.8 mm.
