**Commonly Used Terms** 'Guide Mark'... Refers to the marks created on the top or bottom surface of the workpiece by guides or strippers. Generally, when the pressure applied is strong, a circular mark is left, and when it is a single-sided hold, a crescent-shaped mark appears. 'Burr'... Refers to the small curled parts that occur on the sheared edge of the workpiece. It is necessary to remove them as they can pose a risk of injury if they remain on areas that come into contact with hands. 'Clearance'... Refers to the gap in the punch hole. If the clearance is more than necessary, it can cause twisting or deformation in the punched area. Typically, a width of more than twice the thickness for steel or aluminum, and more than four times for stainless steel is required. 'Knockout'... A processing method where the workpiece is punched out to the thickness of the sheet but is left partially connected to the base material. It should be designed to allow for easy removal on-site as needed. A dedicated knockout die (usually round) is required. 'Dowel Out'... Refers to the process of adding spherical protrusions to the workpiece. Nesting... Refers to the layout of sheet workpiece cutouts directed to NC processing machines via CAM.

"Burring" - A processing method that shapes the workpiece into a tubular form. It is primarily used for tapping the inner diameter and is performed using a dedicated mold. "Beading" - A processing method that shapes the workpiece into a bead form for purposes such as reinforcing sheet metal or preventing slipping. Short beads are formed in a single operation, while long beads are shaped using nibbling. "Micro Joint" - Refers to the method of connecting parts together when processing many components from a single sheet, commonly known as "multiple parts processing." "Chamfering" - The process of smoothing the edges after NC machining to eliminate burrs. Specifically, chamfering performed on the workpiece's cutouts and edges is referred to as "C chamfering.
