We have succeeded in producing a fabric product made of 100% tungsten by using it in a fibrous form.

Tungsten radiation shielding fabric has successfully been commercialized as a 100% tungsten fabric by using tungsten in a fibrous form. Additionally, the shielding effect has shown an average shielding rate of over 20% (note) by layering 10 sheets of fabric and stacking four 0.1mm tungsten plates. It is entirely possible to further increase the shielding rate by changing the number of layers and limiting the areas to be shielded. Furthermore, it can be finished in a fabric form, and we are currently considering its installation inside helmets, although it can also be applied to other objects. It is effective not only against gamma rays but also against X-rays, so there is potential for development in the medical field in response to the shift away from lead.
