I absolutely hate being called a 'fake'! We gathered around the finished prototype and had heated discussions with the craftsmen, repeatedly asking them to redo it over and over again. If it's just for a scenic view from afar, this would be sufficient. However, what we are trying to create now is a faux rock that people soaking in the hot spring will see up close. To ensure that the experience of the rock bath is not ruined, we must be even more particular about the details... 'More realistic than the real thing' is the texture we aimed for. If we wanted to make it cheaply, we could compromise in many ways, but I absolutely refuse to have it lumped together with mass-produced items from some country! This is a 'work' crafted by artisans who are committed to refining it until the very end to achieve a satisfactory finish. I take pride in saying that it is a product that does not shame the label 'Made in Japan'.
