Tohoku University Technology: Biodegradable Porous Microneedles: T19-678
Microneedles that combine biodegradability, fluid permeability, and mechanical strength.
Microneedles equipped with fluid-permeable pathways are used for minimally invasive transdermal drug delivery and body fluid sampling. The inventors developed porous microneedles (PMN) with enhanced fluid permeability by combining biodegradable polymers and soluble polymers to provide the necessary mechanical strength for skin penetration. 【Effects】 • By modifying PMN made of PLGA with surfactants and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), wettability and mechanical strength are improved. • The transdermal electrical resistance of pig skin decreases to one-tenth by inserting PLGA-PMN into the pig skin.
