We would like to introduce a case study of installing "electrode-less lamps" at Company Y's large factory. The "electrode-less lamp," which is gaining attention as a third option to replace mercury lamps with LEDs, has a completely different structure from traditional light bulbs that use a filament. Since it has no electrodes, it offers a long lifespan and a gentle brightness. Before installation, there were 32 mercury lamps of 700W each, with a total power consumption of 24.0 kW. After installing 17 units of the electrode-less lamp TL8-400E (400W), the total power consumption was reduced to 7.14 kW. We would like to introduce "PLM: Pupil Lumen." Recent research has revealed that the traditional brightness standard "Lux" is not directly related to human visual capability. Instead, a new concept called "Pupil Lumen (Plm)," which takes into account the state of the human pupil, has begun to emerge as a new standard for lighting evaluation in Europe and the United States. [Summary (Excerpt)] - The diameter of the human pupil varies between 2 to 8 mm, resulting in an area change of up to 16 times. - In bright environments, the pupil constricts, reducing the amount of light entering the eye. - Conversely, in areas without strong light, the pupil dilates, allowing more light to enter the eye.
