Kurota's Story: Gradual Grinding

We have been able to newly add the 10-step step grinding technology to the history of KUROTA's step grinding technology!

Our company has a flagship product, the "oil pump shaft." This shaft has a portion of its shape formed into a serration through rolling to assemble the rotor, and due to the plastic processing, the outer diameter precision is not very good. One day, we received a customer request asking, "Can we improve the outer diameter precision of the serration?" The required tolerance was 8μm, and the processing cost, considering the rolling variation, was three times the usual amount. Moreover, since the processing involved finishing five stages of outer diameters simultaneously, including the outer diameter, this was a challenge that KUROTA had no prior experience with at the time, and it was a high-difficulty endeavor that was about to begin. *For more details, please refer to the related links.
