A1070 Aluminum Extrusion Alloy

The thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity are high, and the weldability and corrosion resistance are good.

A1070 is made of pure aluminum material, with a purity of over 99.7%. As it is a pure aluminum material, it does not have elements added like other aluminum alloys to improve strength or extrudability, resulting in lower strength and a characteristic softness (ductility). Due to its high purity of over 99.7%, it has excellent corrosion resistance, as well as superior thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity. Therefore, A1070 is used in heat exchanger components, machine parts, and components related to power transmission and distribution. By the way, the last two digits of A1070, "70," indicate its purity, confirming that it has a purity of 99.7%. For example, A1100 indicates a purity of over 99%, while A1050 indicates a purity of over 99.5%.

A6005C aluminum extruded alloy

Although it has slightly lower strength than A6061, it allows for thin-walled hollow profiles with complex cross-sectional shapes.

A6005C is an alloy developed in Japan, positioned between A6063 and A6061 in terms of strength. Its former name was 6N01, and it is characterized by high corrosion resistance, excellent extrudability, and superior weldability. Due to its ability to produce thin-walled and complex cross-sectional shapes, it is widely used in railway vehicles such as Shinkansen and subways. Its high extrudability allows for easy extrusion of large profiles, making it possible to reduce the number of weld joints.

Formation of high-strength / high-rigidity / high heat-resistant Mo alloy that can be cast (able to melt under 2000℃)! Equivalent to Ni-based alloy!

Currently, molybdenum alloys are formed by extrusion of powder sintered bodies due to their high melting point. Therefore, cutting is required in order to form complex shapes, which increases the manufacturing cost. In addition, if a body is formed by the powder sintering, the strength is decreased.   In this invention, light / high strength / high heat resistance molybdenum alloys can be easily fabricated by the melting and casting method, which can be applied for complex shapes. Iron alloy with specific gravity less than 7, 0.2% proof stress more than 1000 MPa, and tensile stress more than 1000 MPa

Although stainless steel is an industrially important iron alloy, its specific strength is inferior to that of other metals because of its large specific gravity. An iron alloy having low specific gravity and high strength is required for the transport equipment.   The present invention provides high strength iron alloy having the maximum 0.2% proof stress and the tensile stress more than 1000 MPa while having the specific gravity less than 7.

Tohoku University Technology: Co-based magnetic alloy for high TMR element: T19-018

TMR ratio over 200% with no B addition, low temperature heat treatment and sputtered film formation

TMR element showing the tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) effect, has been applied to products such as magnetic sensor, non-volatile memory, etc. The TMR ratio, which represents the variation ratio of element resistance, is one of the element performance indicator and it is an important characteristic that influences the specification of the applied product. TMR element using amorphous FeCoB magnetic alloy and MgO tunnel barrier is currently the main material and can be fabricated by sputtering method which is suitable for mass production. This is an excellent material which becomes FeCo/MgO crystal when B is diffused by heat-treating the element and shows 200-600% TMR ratio. However, heat treatment with B diffusion could be a factor in reducing the functionality of other layers adjacent to FeCo. This invention provides a technology for Co-based magnetic irregular alloy showing TMR ratio comparable to FeCoB by low temperature heat treatment, even without the addition of B.

High wear and corrosion resistance for molding super engineering plastics! Low cost mass production deployment is possible since powder metallurgy technology is not used

This invention overcomes the corrosion resistance decrease with a unique alloy design, which has been an issue for high-hardness alloys with dispersed carbides, and provides an Fe-based alloy with an excellent balance between hardness and corrosion resistance. The alloy of this invention can be manufactured using ordinary melting and processing equipment, and can reduce material cost by replacing existing powdered metallurgy materials. It is expected to have a wide range of applications such as a component of a screw, etc. used in the molding of super engineering plastics like a PPS resin or such as a mold material used in corrosive environments.

Oxide dispersion strengthened alloys with uniform dispersion of fine oxide particles can be fabricated by the additive manufacturing method!

Oxide dispersion strengthened alloy is an alloy where the hard oxide particles are dispersed inside the crystal grains of the metal matrix. By having more oxide particles inside the crystal grains of the matrix phase with uniform dispersion, it is difficult for the oxide particles to agglomerate or coarse even when exposed to a high-temperature environment for a long period of time, which makes difficult for the material to deteriorate its strength property.  In the casting method, metallic liquid and oxide solids having different density are difficult to mix homogeneously, and oxide particles are pushed by the solid-liquid interface of solidification and agglomerate in the final solidified part, which prevents them from being uniformly dispersed in the matrix. In addition, the laser and electron beam additive manufacturing methods involve the powder particles melting process which causes the agglomeration of fine oxide particles and makes it difficult to disperse them uniformly inside the matrix.  This invention solves the above problem and provides a technology that can fabricate oxide dispersion strengthened alloys with fine oxide particles uniformly dispersed inside the crystal grains of the matrix phase when using the additive manufacturing method.

Tohoku University Technology: New CoCr alloys with low Young's modulus, high wear and corrosion resistance, and superelasticity : T20-542

Alloys with high fatigue life and free of nickel element

β-Ti and conventional CoCr alloys are widely used for artificial joints because of their superior mechanical properties. Some β-Ti alloys show superelasticity and low Young's modulus; however, they have low wear resistance. Conventional CoCr alloys show excellent wear resistance, but they have very high Young's modulus, which is about 10 times that of human bones. Since low Young's modulus and wear resistance are properties with a trade-off relation, there has not been a biomaterial that realizes both.  This invention is about new CoCr alloys that have an even lower Young's modulus than β-Ti alloys, which also boast high wear and corrosion resistance, and superelasticity. This invention shows a fatigue life of more than 10 million cycles up to a strain of 1.65% and it is expected to be the next-generation biological material.  These alloys are characterized by a large elastic anisotropy. In the <100> direction, they show a Young's modulus of 30 GPa, comparable to human bones, making it suitable to use for artificial joints and bone plates. In the <111> direction, they have extremely high Young's modulus of 300 GPa, making it suitable to use for stents.

Elastic alloy with Young's modulus less than 25 GPa which remains in the elastic range even when 600 Mpa stress is applied

Superelastic alloy can instantly return to its original state after plastic deformation when the force is removed. However, a repeated plastic deformation leaves a residual strain that cannot be ignored. This invention is about an elastic alloy having a large elastic strain over 4% and Young's modulus less than 25 Gpa, which remains in the elastic range even a stress up to 600 Mpa is applied.

Specific gravity is less than one third of Nitinol! The lightest superelastic alloy worldwide without allergic elements

Conventional superelastic and shape-memory alloys are generally composed of elements having high specific gravity, and the ones composed of lightweight elements have not been reported yet. Although superelastic and shape-memory alloys for medical applications are being intensely investigated, a typical TiNi alloy (Nitinol) is still difficult to apply to patients owing to allergic effect caused by nickel.  The present invention provides superelastic and shape-memory alloy having the specific gravity less than one third of Nitinol by using magnesium. As well known as the good biocompatibility of magnesium, the alloy is expected to be applied to medical field.
