About sheath thermocouples

Introducing "sheath thermocouples," which have a faster response time compared to protective tube thermocouples.

A "sheath thermocouple" is a thermocouple wire housed within a thin metal tube (sheath), filled with high-purity inorganic insulating powder (magnesium oxide/MgO) for insulation, and further processed to reduce the outer diameter. This design maintains insulation while also sealing the wire to prevent corrosion and degradation of the thermocouple from air or gases at high temperatures. Since the space between the thermocouple wire and the metal sheath is filled with MgO, it has a monolithic structure, resulting in a faster response time compared to protective tube-type thermocouples. Nicrobel C thermocouple

The Φ1.0 thin sheath K thermocouple can measure up to 900°C! It achieves higher stability and environmental resistance compared to conventional Inconel sheath thermocouples.

Conventional metal sheaths (such as stainless steel and Inconel) experience chemical corrosion and metal fatigue at high temperatures, which have a significant impact on the stability and lifespan of thermocouples. The Nicrobel sheath is a revolutionary metal sheath made from a heat-resistant alloy with a composition very similar to type N thermocouples (NicroSil), minimizing adverse effects such as chemical corrosion and metal fatigue. The protective tube diameter can range from Φ1 to Φ8. You can choose from straight and L-shaped designs, as well as options with terminal boxes, depending on your application.
