At the outdoor pool of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, we were using an ozone generator for sterilization, but due to high electricity costs, we discontinued its use and installed three Hydroflow P160 (for 6"). As a result, we were able to maintain water quality safety, and we report this. The installation was made in March 2000 on a 150A pipe just before entering the sand filters (three units). The pool's water volume was 2,400m². 【Evaluation of Benefits】 ■ Discontinued the ozone generator, reduced the backwashing frequency of the filters to 1/3 and the cleaning time to 1/5, saving on drainage volume. ■ Reduced the usage of electrolyzed disinfectants to 1/3. ■ Overall costs saved approximately 1.4 million yen annually. ■ The water has become softer compared to before. ⇒ It has become gentler on swimmers' skin, eyes, hair, and swimsuits. Prevention of Algae Growth in Cooling Towers [Electromagnetic Water Treatment Device Vol. 7]

Technical Data: Automatic Pretreatment of DEENA2 Steel with Nitric Acid - Hydrochloric Acid (Aqua Regia)

A study was conducted on the addition of nitric acid-hydrochloric acid (aqua regia) for the heating decomposition (dissolution) in the analysis of impurities contained in iron and steel.

Steel increases in rigidity when it contains boron and other impurities, but too many impurities can make it brittle. Therefore, managing the impurity content is extremely important in the production of high-quality steel. As an analytical method, the nitric acid-hydrochloric acid (aqua regia) decomposition is commonly performed; however, it is time-consuming and labor-intensive, and generates a significant amount of harmful acid decomposition gases, making it difficult to safely and quickly process multiple samples. To address this, we examined the automatic pretreatment using nitric acid-hydrochloric acid (aqua regia) for impurity analysis in iron and steel, utilizing DEENA2, which can perform tasks such as acid addition, stirring, and dilution control fully automatically via PC control. As a result, we were able to automate tasks that were previously done manually.
