Permeable pavement and water-retaining pavement materials [Case study: Hinokicho Park]

Introducing case studies of permeable and water-retaining pavement material "Color Sand"! <Hinokicho Park (Tokyo)> *Constructed in 2010

In Minato Ward, Tokyo, right next to Tokyo Midtown, we have adopted permeable pavement and water-retaining colored sand materials in the sloped area of Hinokicho Park. Since it has been about 12 years since the installation, there are some areas with cracks, but the walkability has been maintained. In urban parks, natural colors that evoke an urban image are often used, and this location has also chosen those colors.

Permeable pavement and water-retaining pavement materials [Case study: Nishitokofun group]

Introducing examples of the adoption of permeable and water-retaining pavement material "Color Sand"! <Nishitokofun Group (Saitama Prefecture)> *Constructed in 1998

One of the three burial mound groups in Moroyama Town, Saitama Prefecture, is the Nishito Burial Mound Group, where we have adopted permeable pavement and water-retaining pavement material colored sand. A quarter of a century has passed since the construction, but there has been no significant damage, and it is still being used as an active pavement.

Permeable pavement and water-retaining pavement materials [Case Study: Hachioji New Town]

Introducing examples of the permeable and water-retaining pavement material "Color Sand"! <Hachioji New Town (Tokyo)> *Installed in 1997

In the pedestrian walkway within the residential complex near JR Yokohama Line's Hachioji Minamino Station, developed as Hachioji New Town, permeable and water-retaining colored sand paving materials were adopted in 1997. Although more than a quarter of a century has passed since the construction, there is hardly any significant damage, and the condition is very good. This truly demonstrates one of the characteristics of permeable and water-retaining colored sand paving materials: their long lifespan. *Photographed in May 2023.

Permeable pavement and water-retaining pavement materials [Case Study: Rokusen Park]

Introducing examples of the adoption of permeable and water-retaining pavement material "Color Sand"! <Rokusen Park (Tokyo)> *Constructed in 2022

In the expansion area of Tokyo Metropolitan Rokusen Park located in Higashikurume City, we have adopted permeable pavement and water-retaining pavement material in color sand. The sand beige color of the planted flowers and the permeable and water-retaining pavement material creates a soft, earthy atmosphere that complements each other well.

Paving materials that can contribute to the achievement of the SDGs.

Sanwa Grand aims to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs with three goals by using permeable and water-retaining pavement materials made from recycled materials, specifically blast furnace slag.

"13 Specific Measures Against Climate Change" [Conservation of Natural Environment] We will provide products that are friendly to disaster reduction and the precious local resources of "water and greenery." [Permeability and Water Retention] By allowing rainwater to "permeate and return" to the ground, we promote the stabilization of groundwater sources and the growth of vegetation. Stored water helps mitigate the heat island effect. "12 Responsibility to Create and Use" [Reduction of Environmental Impact] We will use recycled materials to provide durable products. [Environmental Quality] Blast furnace crushed slag is a specified procurement item under green procurement methods. [Durability] Many projects maintain paving functionality even after more than 15 years. "11 Building Sustainable Communities" [User-Friendly] We will provide a safe, secure, and comfortable environment for children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. [Universal Design] High flatness ensures barrier-free access, creating a comfortable walking environment for everyone. [Safety] Safe and secure paving materials made from "harmless" blast furnace crushed slag. ■ Case Studies Osaka Castle Park (Construction in 2023) Dejima Dutch Trading Post Ruins (Construction in 2022) Aoyama Cemetery (Construction in 2021) *For more details, please contact us.

Technical basis for the permeability coefficient of permeable paving material "Color Sand"

Introducing technical information about permeable blast furnace slag pavement "Color Sand"!

This document explains the technical basis for the permeability coefficient in "permeable blast furnace slag pavement (colored sand)." Our paving material uses granulated blast furnace slag as a raw material, which falls under the classification of sand and gravel. Therefore, we conducted a "constant water level permeability test" to measure the permeability coefficient. The result of the constant water level permeability test showed a measured value of 2.56×0.01 cm/sec. Thus, the required permeability coefficient for the sidewalk area in terms of "permeability" is a public standard value of 1.0×0.01 cm/sec. Our measured value exceeds this standard by more than double, proving that our permeable paving material sufficiently meets the required permeability performance for the sidewalk area. [Overview] ■ The permeability coefficient was measured in accordance with the "Soil Permeability Testing Method" based on JISA1218. - Constant water level permeability test: Applicable to soils with relatively high permeability coefficients (sand and gravel). - Variable water level permeability test: Applicable to soils with relatively low permeability coefficients (clay, silt, etc.). ◎ Exceeds the standard value and sufficiently meets the required permeability performance for the sidewalk area. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or external link pages, or feel free to contact us.
