[Case Study] Color Sand (Imagawa Promenade)

A spacious and easy-to-walk sidewalk for drainage! Introducing the case study of the permeable and water-retaining paving material "Color Sand."

In Takaishi City, Osaka Prefecture, our permeable and water-retaining paving material 'Color Sand' has been adopted for the "Imagawa Promenade." The "Imagawa Promenade," constructed in March 2016, was previously a drainage channel where domestic wastewater flowed in, causing odors and insects to emerge in the summer, which troubled the residents. In response to calls from local residents for renovations that consider hygiene and safety, the river was converted into an underground channel, and our product, which excels in permeability and water retention, was used for the surface. It has transformed into a spacious and easy-to-walk promenade. 【Benefits of Adoption】 ■ Excellent water retention, capable of handling heavy rain of 30mm/h ■ The surface has fine bumps, making it less slippery even in the rain ■ No water splashing, making it easy to walk on even when the surface is wet ■ Soft walking sensation, reducing strain on the legs and back ■ Color options that harmonize with the surrounding landscape *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Permeable blast furnace slag pavement material "Color Sand" *Case study collection gift

Adopted at Ueno Zoo's Panda Forest! A paving material that excels in permeability and water retention, with examples of surface temperatures as low as -10°C! It combines durability and aesthetic appeal.

The permeable and water-retaining paving material "Color Sand" utilizes fine porous aggregate known as "blast furnace crushed slag," achieving high permeability and water retention for landscape paving. Depending on environmental conditions, its durability is approximately 15 to 20 years. With a texture similar to soil, "slag paving" blends easily into natural landscapes. Choosing gray tones can match urban landscapes as well. It allows rainwater to permeate and return to the ground, alleviating the "heat island phenomenon" in urban areas. There are instances where surface temperatures are about 10°C lower compared to asphalt paving. It is designed to minimize puddles and has a high slip resistance, making it easy to walk on during and after rainfall. 【Features】 ■ Excellent functionality (permeability, water retention, freeze resistance, durability, slip resistance) ■ Utilizes aggregates specified for procurement under the Green Purchasing Law, with a recycling rate of over 80% ■ Meets the "surface requirements" needed for sidewalks and bicycle paths ■ Over 1,800 instances of adoption in "public works" ordered by municipalities nationwide ★ Currently, we are offering a "case study collection" for parks and building exteriors. You can view it immediately via [PDF download].

The technical basis for color sand being compatible with "universal design."

Introducing technical information about permeable and water-retaining blast furnace slag pavement "Color Sand"!

This document explains the technical basis for the "permeable and water-retaining blast furnace slag pavement (color sand)" being compliant with "universal design." The target value for slip resistance is set at BPN 40 or higher for wet surfaces, and the color sand pavement exceeds 62, thus meeting the target value. Additionally, since it is a site-cast pavement, it does not pose obstacles for pedestrians and wheelchair users, allowing for smooth curved construction, making it suitable for wheelchair users and visually impaired individuals. Furthermore, it excels in shock absorption, permeability, and water retention. The main factors contributing to overall "walkability" are elasticity, foot feel, and slip resistance. It is necessary to evaluate overall ease of walking and running when selecting walking surfaces. **Features** - Exceeds the target value for slip resistance - Allows for smooth curved construction - Excellent shock absorption and soft walking sensation - Maintains permeability without creating puddles that hinder walking - Highly superior in water retention capacity and duration due to its porous structure *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or external link pages, or feel free to contact us.*

The reason why colored sand maintains its paving function even after more than 15 years.

Introducing technical information about permeable and water-retaining blast furnace slag pavement "Color Sand"!

We will explain the reasons why the "permeable and water-retaining blast furnace slag pavement (color sand)" has maintained its paving functionality even after more than 15 years since installation. Color sand meets all five "pavement requirements" expected for pedestrian areas and maintains high performance among pedestrian pavements. The characteristic of the blast furnace water-quenched slag used as aggregate, "latent hydraulicity," not only enhances strength but also provides excellent permeability and water retention due to its porous structure. Furthermore, in response to the repeated action of freezing and thawing during winter, it prevents the deterioration of the pavement surface by relieving the pressure caused by the volume expansion of moisture during freezing. Additional explanations, such as "representative examples of sites that have maintained paving functionality for over 15 years," can be found through external links. 【Technical Information Introduction】 ■ 20 years since the development of color sand ■ High performance maintained as pedestrian pavement ■ Technical reasons for maintaining paving functionality after more than 15 years / representative examples of sites *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or external link pages, or feel free to contact us.

Pavement materials that are environmentally friendly and do not contain volatile organic solvents (VOCs)!

"PP Ascon" is a small-scale thin-layer overlay and drainage pavement material that uses high-viscosity asphalt, which produces strong bonding and durability. Not only for the repair of drainage pavements, but even in thin-layer overlays for initial ruts, step corrections, and surface delamination, early strength can be achieved by carefully compacting with a small compactor, allowing for long-term maintenance of the repaired areas. 【Features】 ■ By using high-viscosity asphalt, sufficient compaction allows for longer maintenance of repaired areas compared to conventional products. ■ It has almost no odor, preventing irritating smells from filling warehouses or vehicles. ■ There is no stickiness from solvents, making it less likely to soil hands, feet, or clothing. ■ It does not harden after opening, allowing for approximately two years of storage. ■ Due to its property of hardening under pressure, it can be opened to traffic immediately after construction. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.
