[Precision Mold Design and Parts Processing Case Studies] High-Precision Parts Processing and Alignment Technology

Achieving a precision of ±0.002mm, extending the lifespan of parts and reducing purchase costs! A case study of an automotive parts manufacturing company.

Our processing technology enables a part and alignment accuracy of ±0.002mm. With the introduction of high-precision components, the positional accuracy during mold assembly is high, resulting in less wear and reduced component consumption. For automotive parts manufacturers, our processing technology has achieved a part and alignment accuracy of ±0.002mm, leading to an increase in component lifespan. [Case Overview] ■ Customer Industry: Automotive Parts Manufacturer ■ Consultation Details: Short mold maintenance cycle and short component lifespan ■ Proposed Solution: High precision of parts and high precision of alignment ■ Technology Used: High-precision part processing and mold alignment technology ■ Results: Increased component lifespan and a 25% reduction in component purchase costs *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Precision Mold Design and Parts Processing Case Study] Reduction of Maintenance Time

By using highly reproducible parts, it is possible to reduce the time for trial adjustments! This allows for a smoother startup.

We received a consultation from a precision parts manufacturing company stating that it takes a long time to adjust when replacing carbide punches. In response, we proposed switching from electrical discharge machining to milling. As a result, we were able to reduce the adjustment time during punch replacement to one-third. 【Case Summary】 ■ Customer Industry: Precision Parts Manufacturing ■ Consultation Content: Long adjustment time when replacing carbide punches ■ Proposed Solution: Transition from electrical discharge machining to milling ■ Technology Used: Milling technology for carbide materials ■ Outcome: Reduced adjustment time during punch replacement to one-third *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Precision Mold Design and Parts Processing Case Study] Improvement of Tungsten Carbide Punch Lifespan

The lifespan of punches has tripled thanks to milling processing technology for superhard materials! Here, we introduce a case study for a precision electronic components manufacturer.

When processing superhard materials with electrical discharge machining, microcracks due to thermal effects occur during the machining process. These cracks penetrate to a depth of about 20μm, so no matter how much you polish to create a smooth surface, they remain. These cracks can cause wear in punches that are subjected to strong loads. In contrast, milling does not produce any microcracks at all. Milling tools can go down to R0.1, and the flexibility of the machining shapes is very high. 【Case Overview】 ■ Customer Industry: Precision electronic components manufacturer ■ Consultation Content: Want to improve the lifespan of superhard rivet punches ■ Proposed Solution: Transitioning from electrical discharge machining to milling ■ Technology Used: Milling technology for superhard materials ■ Results: The lifespan of the punches increased threefold *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Press molds [Precision mold design case] Maintenance and startup adjustment time reduction

Significantly reduce the startup adjustment time after troublesome parts replacement! Introducing a case study for electronic component manufacturers.

We record the finished dimensions of all parts. Therefore, when you place an order for replacement parts, we manufacture them with a tolerance of ±1μm compared to the original parts. By simply replacing the parts, we can restore them to a condition equivalent to new, significantly reducing the time required for setup adjustments after part replacement. 【Case Summary】 ■ Customer Industry: Electronic Component Manufacturer ■ Inquiry: Want to reduce the time required for punch and die nesting exchange ■ Proposed Solution: Change the positioning method for punch and die ■ Technology Used: Changed the die nesting keying method to a light press-fit method ■ Results: No adjustments needed after nesting exchange, reducing the time required for replacement by 75% *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Press Mold Special Edition Mold Maker Column - Single Shot Type Edition

In the mold maker column, we will continuously share various information about molds! (We also publish the mold maker column on our company Instagram.)

This column is about press molds! There are several types of "press molds." - Single-stroke molds - Progressive molds - Transfer molds The main three types are listed above. This time, I will introduce the "single-stroke mold"! A single-stroke mold is a type of mold that can perform processes such as cutting, bending, and drawing only once with a single mold. The advantages include lower costs compared to other types of molds because there is only one process and the mold structure is not complex, and, for the same reason, it allows for shorter delivery times. In terms of quality benefits, it helps prevent the "hull bottom phenomenon" and the shifting of the product's tip. (I plan to publish a detailed column about the "hull bottom phenomenon" at a later date!) On the other hand, the disadvantages include the tendency for single-stroke molds to have lower productivity compared to other press molds because they are often operated manually, and the limitation of not being able to perform complex processes due to having only one operation. Single-stroke molds are suitable for products with small lot sizes or large sizes. In this first column, I introduced the "single-stroke mold." In the next column, I will explain the "progressive mold"!
