Taking into account the balance between theory and practicality, revised for the first time in 23 years to withstand over a decade of use! Explaining from the basics to applications with theory and abundant real-life examples!
More than 23 years have passed since the publication of the 4th edition of the "Handbook of Packaging Technology" in 1995. During this time, there have been remarkable advancements in packaging technology, and there are increasing points that need to be reviewed in the handbook's content. Additionally, the social conditions surrounding the packaging industry and international circumstances have changed significantly. It is no longer sufficient to simply develop convenient packaging containers and provide them to users; society will not accept this alone. There is a demand to reduce environmental impact in the disposal of used packaging materials, and at the same time, recyclable packaging materials are required from the perspective of effective resource reuse. Furthermore, it has become mandatory to provide safe packaging materials, including imported goods, to consumers. In light of these technological advancements and changes in social and international conditions, it is truly gratifying and timely that we have renewed the editorial and writing team and have reached the publication of the 5th edition of the "Handbook of Packaging Technology" as a new initiative.
The revision policy aims to 1) consider the balance between theory and practicality, and 2) systematically explain the theory of packaging, practical applications, and the latest trends with examples, with the goal of creating content that can withstand use for the next decade or so.
