We would like to introduce our "Magic Tape" anti-static type. This product incorporates conductive fiber "Klarcabo" into the base fabric of the standard "Magic Tape," giving it anti-static properties. Unlike standard hook-and-loop fasteners, "Magic Tape" does not have a back coating agent applied to the reverse side, which exposes "Klarcabo" and significantly reduces the surface leakage resistance value. We would like to introduce the "hook-and-loop" positioning type that we handle. This product is designed to be used with a combination of hooks with a special shape and loops arranged in high density. Generally, hook-and-loop fasteners engage simply by the hooks and loops touching each other, but this product does not engage just by lightly touching the loop surface with the hook. Instead, it allows for sliding adjustments of position, and once the position is set, pressing the hook into the loop activates the engagement function. Once engaged, the hook has a shape that makes it difficult to pull out, providing a strong engagement force. Therefore, compared to using screws, nails, or bolts, it allows for easy fixation of objects and is increasingly being adopted in applications where simplification of production processes is desired. A plastic molded type of hook and loop fastener that can be sewn on!

We would like to introduce the "hook and loop" type that we handle, which is moldable and sewable. This product is made from polyester material and can be sewn onto the substrate. Furthermore, compared to woven "hook and loop," it adheres firmly and is easy to peel off. (High shear, low peel) Additionally, due to the fewer protrusions on the hook surface, it feels gentle on the skin and has less adherence of dust and thread debris. The thinness during engagement provides excellent followability and comfort when attached. Moreover, in addition to sewing for attachment, it can also be affixed using adhesives or ultrasonic welders, allowing for installation tailored to the substrate. We would like to introduce the "Velcro" molded 1WAY type that we handle. The standard molded type hooks are designed to engage with loads from any direction. On the other hand, this product has a hook shape that faces one direction, allowing it to exhibit strong engagement force in that direction due to shear force, but it does not generate shear force in the opposite direction, making it easy to peel off. When removing, it is done in a sliding manner, resulting in minimal peeling noise and reducing damage to the loop material, thus improving durability. The world's only 100% polyester manufacturing method.

Kuraray Fastening has established a manufacturing method using 100% polyester without a back coating agent and has obtained a patent for it. This has opened up a breakthrough in global standards. This method eliminates the need for polyurethane back coating, which is required for traditional hook-and-loop fasteners, and has successfully reduced CO2 emissions by lowering energy consumption during the process. (A significant amount of energy was required for the heating process to promote the drying and cross-linking reactions of the back coating agent.) Now, all products of "Velcro" are produced using this method. As a result, the hook-and-loop fastener industry has actively pursued efforts to reduce environmental impact, becoming the first to obtain the "EcoLeaf Environmental Label." Furthermore, in 2022, a new recycled type was launched. It uses polyester yarn derived from recycled PET resin made from used plastic bottles as part of the raw materials, and since it is 100% polyester without a back coating, material recycling is possible. The hook-and-loop fastener "Velcro" balances performance and environmental considerations. Kuraray Fastening will continue to advance "more human-friendly and more earth-friendly manufacturing."

Kurare Fastening was the first in Japan to start a hook-and-loop fastener business and has continued to develop and produce "Velcro" based on domestic production facilities up to the present day. The history of "Velcro" (generic name: hook-and-loop fastener)

Nature taught us that.

Now, "hook and loop fasteners," which everyone may have used at least once, do you know when and where they were born? It was an event in Switzerland in 1948. Swiss inventor George de Mestral, who was out hunting in the mountains with his dog, noticed that many wild burdock seeds were stuck to his clothes and his dog's fur. Curious, he took the seeds home and looked at them under a microscope. He discovered that the seeds were made up of countless hooks that clung tightly to clothing and dog fur. Inspired by this structure, he began developing a fastener that could be easily attached and detached. After years of trial and error, he created a fastener made of special nylon threads, consisting of countless hooks and loops. This was the birth of the hook and loop fastener. In Japan, our company applied for a patent in 1958, registered the trademark "Magic Tape" in 1960, and began sales. In 1964, it was adopted for the headrest covers of the Shinkansen, which led to its use in various applications such as blood pressure cuffs and sneakers, continuing to this day.
