"NK Smoother 25" employs a heat set method in offset printing machines, and to avoid issues caused by static electricity generated from the drying and friction of paper, a silicone coater is installed near the dryer outlet. Generally, silicone is used to provide an appropriate moisture level to the paper while simultaneously improving slip properties to suppress static electricity generation. While silicone enhances slip due to its smoothness, it does not have the antistatic effect of fabric softeners. In response to demands for greater emphasis on slip properties, Nikkankagaku has developed "NK Smoother 25" as a silicone emulsion for use in silicone coaters.
