One of the environmental reliability tests, the "thermal shock test," is designed to accelerate degradation due to thermal stress. It repeatedly applies rapid temperature gradients of high and low temperatures to the test specimen to evaluate the reliability and durability of products and components.
There are two types of thermal shock testing machines: air chamber type and liquid chamber type, depending on how the specimen is exposed to cold and heat. In the air chamber type, there are two subtypes: one where the basket holding the sample moves between cold and hot environments, and another where the sample basket is fixed and the temperature is switched between cold and hot using a damper.
The choice of which type of equipment to select depends on whether the equipment complies with testing standards such as JIS, the degree of thermal shock to be applied, and the suitable equipment that meets the sample size, quantity, and weight requirements.
