二次（再生）地金を作るには新地金を作るときの約3％のエネルギーしか必要とせず、半永久的なリサイクルが可能なので、非常に経済的です。アルミニウムは錆が発生しませんし、空気と触れることで表面に酸化皮膜を作ることで腐食を防ぎます。表面にアルマイト処理を行うことで更に耐食性は向上します。
