★The Interior of the Stairwell The stairwell is not a place where you spend a long time; it’s just a place to pass through. Therefore, focusing on its interior design is of low priority. However, I believe that stairs are a place where you can change your mindset. Guests invited from the entrance to the second-floor living room may excitedly ascend the stairs, and when moving from the living room to the bedroom, they transition into a sleeping mode. So, I think it’s nice to pay a little attention to the stairwell as well. You could boldly choose colorful wallpaper or hang some artwork. One thing that should not be forgotten during this process is the handrail. Since the handrail is something that people touch, just like chairs and tables, it should be made of a textured wood. This time, I have prepared three types of wood to match the color of the floor: light-colored maple, dark-colored walnut, and a calming-colored teak. By coordinating the color of the stairs with these woods, it creates a sense of unity rather than a disjointed feel. Not only the rods of the handrail but also the brackets, which are the supporting parts, are made of the same material with a rounded shape, so I believe it will create a warm space without anything distracting from the wood.
