In various industries that use resin plates, such as surface printing (dry offset) and letterpress, the trend towards small lot production of diverse varieties has been progressing, and there is a growing demand for increased productivity of printing machines. Frequent plate changes and cleaning of plates lead to significant non-operating time for printing machines, which is a major issue from the perspective of cost reduction. On the other hand, the desired level of print quality continues to become more sophisticated. Maintaining stable print quality is also extremely important. Additionally, recent environmental protection regulations suggest a move towards reducing VOCs, and there is a desire to decrease the amount of organic solvents used for plate cleaning and other processes. These issues have been considered difficult to effectively improve due to the nature of the printing method that applies pressure using relief plates. Accumulated excess ink can cause issues such as thickening of characters, compromising print quality.
