basic information
**Lecture Overview** The JR East Group owns a diverse and vast array of real assets, including approximately 1,650 stations, commercial facilities, hotels, office buildings, and vehicle depots. Among these, the stations, which accommodate about 32 million passengers daily and cover a total area of approximately 8 million m², serve as "infrastructure that people use on a daily basis." As the population declines and there is a shortage of workforce, a significant challenge unique to railway operators is how to maintain these assets safely and efficiently and pass them on to the next generation. This lecture will detail the practices of JR East's architectural design division, which is responsible for design, in collaboration with the owner (JR East) and the maintenance management company (JR East Builtech), to build an information infrastructure that connects design and maintenance management seamlessly. **Lecture Items** ■ The reality of massive real assets ■ Architectural firms responsible for the upstream of the building lifecycle ■ Collaboration among three parties beyond vertical divisions ■ The reality of trial and error ■ Grand design, progress, and future developments ■ Related Q&A ■ Business card exchange and networking session (for in-person attendees only)
