【Lecture Overview】 The era of "Physical AI," where AI autonomously controls robots and machines in the real world, has arrived, and the government has positioned AI robotics as a growth strategy for Japan. The multi-purpose robot market is expected to expand to approximately 60 trillion yen by 2040, and Japan aims to capture over 30% of the global market share, targeting 20 trillion yen. While Japan has led the world in industrial robots and precision components, it has fallen behind the US and China in the service robot sector, and the national strategy had not been updated for a decade. To overcome this crisis, a robotics parliamentary league was established in March 2025, leading to the formulation of a new strategy through proposal activities and a cabinet decision on a solid policy.
