【Lecture Overview】 Twenty years after the opening of the JR Tower, Sapporo's city center is entering a significant turning point. This lecture will detail the urban development around Sapporo Station, which is being forced to reassess its plans in response to changes in the economic environment, such as the postponement of the Shinkansen extension, the abandonment of the Winter Olympics bid, rising material costs, and labor shortages. In particular, I will explain the background of the "North 5 West 1 West 2 District Redevelopment Project," which has been compelled to undergo a fundamental reassessment due to soaring construction costs, as well as the strategies for building division and phased development.
