**Lecture Overview** Japan, ranked sixth in the world in terms of territorial sea and EEZ area, has the Japan Coast Guard acting as the maritime police and fire service to protect this vast area. Through patrol vessels and aircraft, they conduct territorial sea security, crime prevention, maritime rescue, disaster response, and other activities to ensure the safety and security of the public. Based on the "Policy for Strengthening Maritime Security Capabilities" decided at a meeting of relevant ministers in December 2022, efforts are underway not only in terms of hardware, such as the maintenance of patrol vessels and aircraft, but also in terms of software, including strengthening cooperation and collaboration with domestic and international agencies such as the police, the Ministry of Defense, the Self-Defense Forces, and foreign maritime security agencies. We are currently in a time of transformation.
