【Lecture Overview】 On August 30, 2024, a new "Basic Water Cycle Plan" was approved by the Cabinet, taking into account recent changes in the situation surrounding the water cycle, such as the occurrence of the Noto Peninsula earthquake in 2024, the transfer of water supply administration, and the manifestation of the impacts of climate change. This plan promotes four key initiatives: ensuring stable water supply through alternatives and redundancy, restructuring water supply and sewage systems into an optimal and sustainable integrated system through facility reorganization and public-private partnerships, advancing measures against global warming towards carbon neutrality by 2050, and developing comprehensive watershed water management for a healthy water cycle.
