**Lecture Overview** Omiya Park, operated by the prefecture, is the most historically significant urban park in the region, celebrating its 140th anniversary. It is cherished by the citizens for its sacred grove of Omiya Hikawa Shrine, red pines, and cherry blossoms, as well as for its role as a sports hall of fame, featuring the baseball field where Babe Ruth and Shigeo Nagashima once played, and the soccer stadium that is home to the RB Omiya Ardija. It plays an important role as a vital urban function supporting the vibrancy around Omiya Station. On the other hand, there is a need to create an attractive park that, while appreciating tradition, also challenges itself towards the future, in light of the aging and obsolescence of sports facilities and new demands from users. To continue being a core of interaction and vibrancy, Saitama Prefecture has formulated the "Omiya Super Ballpark Concept" and is advancing renovations that incorporate new attractions.
