Conditions during heavy rain disasters at unit net construction sites.
Asakura City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Haki Hoshimaru, Shimizu Moto District From July 5 to 6, 2017, due to the inflow of warm and very humid air towards the stationary rainy front near the Tsushima Strait, a linear precipitation zone was formed and maintained, resulting in extremely heavy rain in the same location. This led to record-breaking rainfall in the northern Kyushu region and caused a heavy rain disaster. In Asakura City, Fukuoka Prefecture, where this heavy rain disaster occurred, unit nets were adopted and constructed in 2014 as part of a steep slope collapse prevention project. You can view the situation near the unit net construction site immediately after the disaster on the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan's YouTube account. The back side of the three-story building (elementary school) shown around 1:40 in the video below is the site where the unit net method was implemented. Despite numerous landslides occurring in the surrounding mountains, the area where the unit net method was applied did not experience any landslides.
