[Shōji Replacement Example] The shōji in the main hall has been cleaned of years of grime and looks beautiful and refreshed.
Repeatedly going back and forth with a bucket to wipe down the fittings, drying them for a full day and night underneath the original location!
We have replaced the shoji screens in the main hall of a temple in Kamigyo Ward, which has been under our care for many years. The shoji screens, which were rusted and stuck, weighed over 100 kg each after removing the hanging hardware. We had to call in three fellow craftsmen from the same industry to help us take them down. Early in the morning, I asked a friend who is a shoji craftsman for assistance, and with three people, we managed to get it done. The shoji screens were cleaned of years of grime and looked refreshed and beautiful, much to the delight of both the head priest and his wife. [Case Summary] - Replacement of shoji screens that had not been changed for about 50 years - Returned to the shop to retrieve protective materials and properly covered the area before working on-site - Made multiple trips with a bucket to wipe down the fittings and allowed them to dry for a full day and night under the original locations *For more detailed information, please refer to the related links.
